 Why should we Know our Ayurvedic body type?

In Ayurveda there are 3 bio energies governing our whole body. There are called the TRIDOSHAS (3 humors).

These TRIDOSHAS form the body type or the Basic constitution of a person (Prakriti)

  • Vata -Combination of Air and space element
  • Pitta-Combination of fire and water
  • Kapha -Combination of earth and water.


The smoothness of your hair, the continuous talking of your friend, your mind to help and be kind all can be made reasonable by the concept of prakriti (basic body type)


Like your DNA is very unique with parental crossovers. Your prakriti (basic body type) is also unique and has combination of parental characteristics.





Vata Prakriti (Body Type)

A social butterfly, unable to sit quietly in a corner for few minutes. The combination of Air and Space element, so like Air they have movement and are constantly active most of the time.


They are talkative, irritable at times, constantly crave for changes.

  • Qualities of vata 
  • Dry, rough-their skin is dry and rough
  • Light-they are light in weight
  • Cold-their body temperature is cold so they prefer warm climate.
  • Movement-They are always moving and active
  • Balance in vata dosha-health
  • Imbalance in vata dosha-disease


Ayurveda says -80 diseases are only due to imbalance in Vata
